BELGIAN OLYMPIC ACADEMY
Ghent University, the Université catholique de Louvain and the Belgian Olympic and Interfederal Committeeé combine their academic know-how and expertise in a new edition of the Belgian Olympic Academy. This unique course professionalises management in sports organizations according to the latest academic and practical insights and brings the leadership and management skills of sports managers to top level.
The program runs over one year and starts in January 2025. The training is spread over five 2-day modules and a 1-day module, and takes place in various centers of Sport Vlaanderen and ADEPS. Two 3-day international training courses are planned where we will be received by the International Olympic Committee; (IOC) in Lausanne and the Dutch Olympic Committeeé - Dutch Sports Federation in Papendal (NOC*NSF).

Professoren en experten uit het werkveld belichten actuele management thema’s toegespitst op de noden van sportorganisaties, in een 50/50 evenwicht tussen theorie en praktijk.

Het residentiële module systeem laat toe om vorming te combineren met sociale activiteiten en netwerken.

Gedurende een meerdaagse business game zullen deelnemers in groep een realistische case oplossen waarbij ze alle verworven kennis in de praktijk omzetten.

The study trip to Lausanne includes visits to the International Olympic Committee; and the Olympic Museum, as well as to international sports federations, the World Anti-Doping Agency and other top bodies within the sports world.

Participants work on a practical project within their own or another sports organization.

A UNIQUE TRAINING
After their bachelor's degree, PE and Movement Sciences students can follow a two-year Master's degree in Sports Policy and Sports Management. They develop management skills such as leadership, entrepreneurship and are further trained in the most important sports management domains such as ethics, marketing, event management, etc.
On the other hand, students learn to put their knowledge into practice through internships in a private, public or commercial organization, projects and a business game.
Students are given the opportunity to gain work experience through. practice-related internship in the 1st and 2nd master year. Whether in a private, public or commercial organization, students are sent into the field to take on a real-life task and responsibility in the field of sports management.
